My roommate got free tickets to the premiere of Voyage of the Dawn Treader last night. The two lead characters of Edmund and Lucy were even there. It was awesome.
I relate to Edmund's character the most and this is the book where he really matures in his journey and CS Lewis speaks so much about addictions, hang ups, continuing sins in our lives. It was very powerful to watch. Also, watching Reepicheep go into Aslan's land was beautiful. I felt so lucky to be able to watch it for free and with my roommate. I had to ask off work early, giving my boss only 4 hours notice that I needed to leave early, but she was understanding and accommodated me. I got ready in formal wear in just 20 minutes. Going from nanny to formal wear in 20 minutes is no small feat, haha.
I am hoping that my Bible Study group can go see Voyage of the Dawn Treader sometime together. I won't be able to see them tonight though, since I will be going to my Senior Class Christmas party. I can't believe today is my last day of undergrad classes. I have to move out, buy a mattress, take finals, etc. Woot.

A Rented Room
Well, with my undergraduate education coming to an end in just 36 days, I at least have a place to live once I am kicked out of the dorms. I will be moving into my bosses' spare bedroom and working for them 3-4 days a week, which means I will need a small job for Wednesdays, weekends, or evenings to compensate. I bought a cheap, but cute, dresser and nightstand set and am looking for a mattress, bed frame, and headboard still. I will be recovering my chair in some kind of white duck fabric, painting the walls of my room white, and getting white bedding. The furniture is also white. Of course, I couldn't stand a simply all white room, so I will add accents of navy blue, such as navy blue pillows, a navy blue border around the top of the wall, and a navy blue rug, maybe some navy blue framed mirrors.
Wish me luck as I head home for the holidays. I would have moved home, since it is cheaper, but the thought of doing so makes me cry. I don't think living with my mom or my dad would be healthy right now because of where they are in their lives and what they are dealing with emotionally and spiritually. It's worth the rent money to keep what is left of my emotional stability.

End of an Era
Well, I am about halfway through my last semester at college and still have no idea where I will be come January 1st. I could move home and live with my mom or my dad, I could stay up here and try to find a place to live while working full time as a nanny (the MWF nanny just quit, so I would take over for her). Of course, I am applying to jobs and have actually sent my resume out for 26 so far. I am also applying to graduate school, but I won't find out about that until late March or early April. Not really sure what God has planned for me right now. I am excited, but I wish He would just tell me what it is.
Did I mentioned that I broke my tail bone in August? Yep, I did. I jumped off of a 45 foot cliff into a lake and landed wrong. I didn't cry though -I simply swam 300 yards back to the boat, taking lots of breaks due to pain, and found that I was physically incapable of holding myself up enough to climb into the boat.
I haven't been able to run since I did it. It was pretty scary the first night. I couldn't walk and my friends and I were staying on a house boat. The guys literally had to carry me to the bathroom (if that's not the sign of a true friend, I don't know what is). Being so helpless and seeing how concerned and helpful my friends were made me really glad I was friends with the not-so popular people. Earlier in the day we had seen some wild and crazy college kids near us on the lake, but I wouldn't trade my friends for the world.

The Charmed Intern Life
Well, things over here in the subcommittee are quite exciting... that was sarcasm. I shouldn't complain though. I suppose aimlessly wandering around the internet and making an average of 0.25 copies a day is better than endless, mind-numbing data entry. Since I cannot make a good impression with my work ethic, I have begun bringing in treats for my office of a whopping 2 people, John and Andrew. I brought chocolate cupcakes last week and this week I have brought in chocolate-banana brownies with peanutbutter icing.
Other than baking and stumbleupon, I have been attending random briefings to pass the time. One was on US-India nuclear agreements. Another was on the coastguard's involvement in the arctic and various systems that are needed. This past weekend I went to a political comedy show, totally worth the $39 ticket price, and saw the live butterfly exhibit at the natural history museum, in addition to seeing the botanical gardens that are right next to the Capitol. As a side note: there was an article written about my time here on my school's website to try to convince people that students at my school actually do something with their lives.
Plans for the Near Future:
If everything goes well, I will be going to Baltimore on Thursday (perhaps -don't tell school- to dance) and chilling in Philly with my friend Jason on Friday. My sister arrives in DC on Saturday and we're gonna go to NYC on Sunday with Jason and his friends. Mary and I will meet up with one of her camp friends and Jason will show us around Philly on Monday. I'm pretty excited to see my sister and so many new places this week. I'll try to let you know how it goes. Oh, and next Thursday I will be going to a Kings of Leon concert -Jason got us tickets.

DC Internship
So on July 2, I arrived at my temporary home just outside of Washington, DC. I unpacked and, 2 hours later, was on my way to the Jersey shore with a friend from school and some other college kids. I spent the holiday weekend relaxing and having fun at a beach house with some good, fairly wholesome people. I met a guy there from Philly and went on a date with him this past Monday. He took me to a really nice restaurant (white linen table cloths and all) and we walked around Georgetown and looked in the shops.
I will be here until mid-August working for my Congressman. I was in his office for a while, but there 8 interns, 2 computers, 6 chairs, and enough work for only 1 or 2 persons. I took about a week of that and transferred yesterday to the coast guard subcommittee. The other interns in the congressional office were awesome, but I think there will be more for me to do at the subcommittee. It is very different over here, but in a good way. The dress code is not as formal and I even have my own computer. Actually, I have my own office, really. The professional staffer just left, so I have been put in his office, which is probably as big as my dorm room at Asbury.
So far, I have done a lot of responding to constituents and answering phones. Yesterday I did a little research on the process of turning coal into liquid fuel.
While I am here, I hope to go to Williamsburg, VA sometime. I have a friend from school staying in Alexandria near Mt. Vernon and might try to get there on one of my days off this week. I have already been to Philadelphia (the guy I went on a date with also took me on a tour of the city, since he is from Philly). Of course, I will try to get out and see DC, but I think will mostly save that for when my sister is here.

The gods...
The gods just might be laughing at me right now.
They must have spotted me buying my first white skirt and then sneakily kept an eye on my wardrobe for the past few weeks, just waiting for the day I would wear my $80, pure white, pencil skirt.
Luckily, I chose to wear a slip today, which has now saved me from the embarassament of a large red stain.
I hope the gods feel cheated.

Summer Time is Finally Here
Junior year ended well. I received notification that I got an internship with the City of Orlando for May and June and with my representative's office for July and August in DC. I am nervous about finding housing and navigating DC. So far, the Orlando one is fun. I am writing up newsletters, attending meetings, managing a website and Twitter and Facebook accounts for a Buy Local initiative.
Also, my friend flew up from Florida to take me to Jr-Sr formal. He's been a family friend for years, but I started to like him over Spring Break. When I dropped him off at the airport the day after Jr-Sr, I wanted to listen to love songs for the first time in over a year and a half. It was a good feeling. He and I actually had DTR (define the relationship) last night and came to the conclusion that we are not currently dating, but that we would like to keep courting in mind for the future.
